LOCAL AUTHOR TO SPEAK AT TOP MAGNET HIGH SCHOOL ABOUT THE COMPLICATIONS OF YOUTH

Raleigh, North Carolina - January 23, 2006/ Kevin Cropp, author of The Time Keeper will speak at William G. Enloe High School on Thursday, February 2nd, 2006 at 11 AM in the Enloe media center, located in the West building. He will discuss his book, the process of writing, and how it relates to the pressures of high school.

The Time Keeper should earn itself strong recognition for the values and examples it offers teenagers today”, says Laura Stalvas, Advanced Placement English teacher and a creative Writing teacher who organized the event. “Dealing with many relevant topics for high school students, such as family conflict, reconciliation/forgiveness, dying, loss, goal/setting, conflict with teachers and girlfriends, the story of Corey Wailes sets an example of persevering through tragedy. In addition to being well written, with symbolism, strongly developed characters, thought-provoking themes, and great framing, it is a story that brings much discussion and growth into the lives of young adults.”

William G. Enloe High School has been consistently ranked as one of the top Magnet schools in the nation. It is currently ranked as the 52nd best public high school in America. What better way to celebrate Raleigh's dedication to education than to honor one of Raleigh's own sons, Kevin Cropp, author of The Time Keeper.
