Inspirational, lovely read., (January16, 2006)
Carol Larwence (NC)
As I read the book, I could see why my friend who gave it to me was so affected by this story. Any reader will surely be encouraged by Kropp's ability to make hard choices, move forward and live life without regret. As the mother of a teenage son I found it to be very insightful and inspiring. It is great book. Captivating from the first pages. The story flows seamlessly. I am recommending it at my book club meeting tonight as one of our picks for the year. Looking forward to Kropp's next publication.

A Must Read for High School Students as well as Adults. (January 12, 2006)
Laura Stalvas (Raleigh, NC)
Kevin Cropp's novel, The Time Keeper, is a must-read for high school students. Dealing with many relevant topics for high school students, such as family conflict, reconciliation/forgiveness, dying, loss, goal/setting, conflict with teachers and girlfriends, the story of Corey Wailes sets an example of persevering through tragedy. In addition to being well written, with symbolism, strongly developed characters, thought-provoking themes, and great framing, it is a story that brings much discussion and growth into the lives of young adults. As an Advanced Placement English teacher and a creative Writing teacher, I feel The Time Keeper should earn itself strong recognition for the values and examples it offers teenagers today.

From the start, I couldn't put it down..., (December 29, 2005)
Emily Holton (Raleigh, NC)
This book is amazing. It hit very close to home with me and once I started reading it I could not put it down. The way Kevin describes each event and articulates his feelings throughout this book, you would never guess it was his first! I can't wait for his next to come out. If you don't read this book, you are missing something special.

A Homerun! (December 13, 2005)
Brandon Force (Raleigh, NC)
The Timekeeper is a homerun hit for Kevin Cropp. This book was fantastic and kept me on the edge of my seat. I opened the book on a flight to Hawaii and finished it before I landed. An absolute must read. Great characters, great story, and a great message. I can't wait to read Kevin Cropp's future books!

A moving Title! (December 12, 2005)
Jennifer Brownlee (Austin, TX)
I really enjoyed the book and it definately sucked me in. Some parts were so moving that you couldn't help but cry, but overall it was uplifting. I great read for the holidays or just in general!

It was an excellent effort. I was really moved by the book.

What a great book from North Carolina. (November 20, 2005)

"The Time Keeper" was very well written, and I found myself in tears as I turned the last page, my heart aching for Corey. Regret's a terrible thing, full of would have's, should have's, and could have's, but I was able to close the book with a good feeling knowing he was with his mom when she died - that he would put their talks to good use and make her proud of him.

Very well written! (November 18, 2005)
Jessica Tickle (Raleigh, NC)
I loved the book. Fast paced, believable and wonderful. I was hooked from the first page!!

A True Fan of Kevin Cropp… such talent! (November 12, 2005)
LaDonna Edwards-Hunt (Leland, NC)
Loved the book! It gave me more understanding of how my mother (whom died from lung cancer) felt when she was being mean to me… she didn't mean to… after she had her breast removed, it killed her as far as feeling totally like a woman and she was unhappy she couldn't control her disease. Kevin Cropp has so much talent. I could visualize every word of his book.

Beautifully written! (November 7, 2005)
Carol Callahan (Chapel Hill, NC)
Could not put it down. A real heart wrencher. Bought several for my friends. "The Time Keeper" has a very compelling message. Really touched me. Look forward to more from this author!

Reminiscent of Nicholas Sparks… November 5, 2005
Joy Thompson (Richlands, NC)
I really enjoyed "The Time Keeper" and I look forward to reading the sequel. I love Kevin Cropp's style of writing… it reminds me of Nicholas Sparks or James Patterson. I will keep my eye out on Cropp as I think he will go far in his career!

Jumped right in! (November 2, 2005)
Bud Dealey (North Carolina)
I found the book very compelling from the beginning with no delay in getting into the "Meat!" of the story----sort of like John Grisham--- not the same style but letting the reader jump into the story immediately. Read it in one seting. It is like you actually live the book.

Congrats to a friend! (November 1, 2005)

I really did enjoy Kevin Cropp's book. Knowing Kevin in college, I recognized many truths to it from his life and as a mother of two precious sons myself, it was difficult to read at times. As a teenager, my own mom lost her mother to cancer so I passed along the book to her and she said that she remembered so many of the exact emotions that were in this book. I look forward to the sequel and wish Kevin the best of luck.

Touched my heart! (November 1, 2005)
Gena McKenzie (Wilmington, NC)
I loved "The Time Keeper"! I found myself hooked and finished within a few hours. Kevin Cropp's book touched my heart! I would like to thank him for sharing a part of his life and history. I myself had experience cancers with loved ones. It really is the hardest thing to watch someone go through. Yes, it makes you look at your own life. Kevin, again thank you so much for your book. I am signing up for the book club and will now on order your books.

I was amazed when I read The Time Keeper. It is an extremely deep book. After the first couple of chapters, the book was hard to put down. I am an alcoholic I guess over books. Am constantly reading, because it is an escape. Kevin Cropp is a very talented writer and he should keep it up. There are not many writers of his caliber out there in the writing field. Keep up the good work Kevin Cropp. I look forward to reading more of his books in the future.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Time Keeper. It is a wonderful book with a very flowing storyline. I could almost relate to some of the situations. It definitely kept my attention throughout the book. I am looking forward to getting started on Kevin Cropp's next one.

Thanks for writing such a touching story. October 28th, 2005

I thoroughly enjoyed "The Time Keeper." It took me a while to get reading, but once I started, I couldn't put it down. I found myself cheering for the Bulldogs as they made it to the playoffs. The love/hate relationship between Linda Wails and her son, Corey, was so real. There are many families out there that could relate to the feelings that the son had towards the mother or vice versa. Hopefully, this book would help them understand how precious life is and how we shouldn't waste our time arguing and fighting with those we should be loving. As an assistant principal in an elementary school, we deal with similar issues where the child and parent do not get along at all until something traumatic happens in their lives. Then, it's too late to make up for all of those lost moments.

Intimate and Engaging. October 28th, 2005
Sherry Singleton (Stanly, NC)
I didn't start the book right away, but when I did, I finished it in 3 sittings. Kevin Cropp has an intimate, engaging style and a profound story to tell. I do hope that he will be writing more for the reading public.

There are so many things that I loved! October 28th, 2005
Susanna Stevens (Wilmington, NC)
I just finished reading "The Time Keeper" and I loved it. I really liked the detail that the author used in describing the relationship between Cory and his mother and the vivid dreams that she had. It is hard to find books that really keep your interest and keep you reading and this book was one of those. It was very hard to put it down. I really liked the story and how the relationship between Cory and his mother evolved and how Cory grew up through it all. The book made me cry and smile and really think about my life. I would like to see what Cory ended up doing with his life.

This book emphasizes how short life really is and how to take advantage of every day and not take anything for granted. I am still thinking about the book days after finishing it!! If there is one thing I will take from your book it's that to always tell the ones that I love my feelings for them and to look at my life with no regrets and to live and to experience all that I can each and everyday. I think we all go through the monotony of everyday living and before we know it years have passed and we say oh I wish we could have or should have done that or traveled there and sometimes it's too late. I hope to read another one of Kevin Cropp's books soon.

Awesome! October 26, 2005
Vicki Stewart (Greensboro, NC)
"The Time Keeper" is a totally awesome book I even cried some reading the part when the mother was trying to mend the relationship with her son... I lost my mother at a very very early age and something like that touches me deep inside... Many people do not know what they have until they no longer have it...Kevin Cropp is a fantastic writer!

A heart warming story of a mother and a son. October 26, 2005
Linda Dellaratta (Wilmington, NC)
I read "The Time Keeper" the day after I bought it, and really enjoyed it. Being a mother and a grandmother it is heart warming to know Corey and his mother made amends before it was too late. Thank God they had the opportunity to do it. God bless you, Kevin Cropp, and keep up the good writing.

I will keep my sights on Kevin Cropp's progress as a writer! October 25, 2005

I loved the book and the story. I have two teenagers, a daughter and a son, and I felt like your book gave me insight into what they must sometimes be feeling about me. It has made me more aware of their behavior as well. I felt knida of foolish sitting there on the beach crying while I read passages of your book. I admire your writing and wish you the best of luck w/ the sequel. Congratulations on such an accomplishment.

What an engrossing story! October 25, 2005
K. Byers (Wilmington, NC)
I not only have had an opportunity to read your book, "The Time Keeper", but I read it the day I bought it - stayed up until about 1:00 or 1:30 to do so, which is very unusual for me. It was an engrossing story (or stories), and I could relate to it personally because my mother also had cancer ( as well as a sister and a sister-in-law). Having such a disease in your immediate family is an awakening experience, to say the least, although by the time my sister-in-law died, I was more accepting. (My mother died at age 62 and my sister at 51; her daughter recently died of cancer at age 49.) I loved the baseball theme, too - I have always liked baseball, mainly because my husband was an enthusiast, aside from the fact of the lessons learned and the growing-up of the character.

Warm Fuzzy Hometown Feel October 25, 2005
Kelly Puglisi (Swansboro, NC)
I devoured my copy of "The Time Keeper" in one afternoon while soaking up the fall sun by the pool. The next day I passed it on to my boss with rave reviews about the young author (not to mention cute) I met at Riverfest. Your book pulled at the heartstrings and put into perspective that daily life of living with a teenager. I applaud you for your honest, heartfelt story with down to earth undertones and a ''warm fuzzy" hometown feel. Keep them coming, and I will continue to pass your book around eastern NC!

Thank you for being in the right place at the right time. October 25, 2005

I have read your book and really enjoyed it. In fact I was going to send you a note. I lost my 18 year old daughter in an automobile accident on October 7, 2004, so, so much of what was happening with the grieving process I had or was experiencing. I was given much needed support from your book. Was this based on a true experience? I have already shared "The Time Keeper" with my friends and they have enjoyed it as much as I did. I look forward to many more books from you. Keep up the great work.

This book is right up my alley. October 25, 2005
Barbara Linder (Wilmington, NC)
It was WONDERFUL!!! I have always been a baseball fan, so this book was right up my alley. I'm wondering how much of it was close to the truth, since it was based on your relationship with your mother. You certainly had the thoughts and feelings experienced in such a relationship described perfectly. Thank you for this work. I look forward to many more, and have already planned on getting a couple copies for Christmas gifts.

Incredible. October 25, 2005
Arlene Rivenbark (Wilmington, NC)
I thoroughly enjoyed your book; it was an easy read (which is great for me since I'm not an avid reader). The message was incredible. The only criticism was the intensity of the ballgame- play by play was too much for me personally. I've passed it on to friends. Good job, and my best wishes.

Engaging. October 24, 2005

Kevin Cropp has a talent of weaving words together to tell a story, and making you feel like you know the people he is writing about. You know it is good writing when you can get a crusty old guy like me misty eyed.Good work.

A Treasure October 20, 2005

How could a mother say such things to her son and on top of that not show any interest in his love of baseball? I realized I did not know enough about her life to be judgemental. Your love of baseball and your father's devotion to you was well defined. I never questioned his feelings. Then, your mother's quest to make sure you had no regrets about her when she was gone was heart rendering and in my opinion the most unselfish and loving thing a mother could do for her child. Dying, all she could think of was how YOU would feel after she was gone. Your devotion to her care and comfort and your determination to show her that your love was always there also worked on my tear ducts. I did a lot of crying but I also did a lot of cheering you on when you talked about baseball. I felt like I was at your game and I am not a sports fan. I will treasure your book and hope to read you again one day.

Intense October 20, 2005

I like how the charactors were developed. The tension between mother and son is intense. I don't know how it will end up but I hope he resolves his issues with his mother before its too late. I can tell you that will help determine my future with my own father.

Personal and heartfelt October 20, 2005
L. Barham (Pfafftown, NC)
I really enjoyed your book. It was an emotional book with lots of feelings I could relate to being a mother of a teenager myself. There is only one sport that I care for and that's baseball. I know just enough to follow the baseball references in the book. I also loved having so much mention of North Carolina locations. Somehow, that makes a book feel personal, since I know those places. Your book was great! A delight to see this relationship restored.

A Great Read. October 6, 2005

I must say I truly enjoyed your book. I finished your book in 3 days and I can't wait for the sequel. Your book actually made me cry as I thought of my own mother and the relationship we have. I am a grown man who was crying on his front porch! Thank you for a great read.

Thank you for publishing this young man's first novel. October 6, 2005

I came home and could not put the book down until I finished it today by putting my other book aside. It is a very well written book, sad but I just fell into the characters. I hope we see a sequel to this book and many more from Kevin Cropp. His writing reminds me of Jan Karon and all her books. You pick up the books and forget about your every day chores and what you need to accomplish on that day.

Amazing!, October 3, 2005

I have to say that even though this book was entirely different than what I would normally read, once I started I could hardly lay it down. I am amazed at what a good read this really was . Congratulations on Copper Press Publishing and I am looking forward to seeing more good things from these folks.
